International Development Ireland (IDI)is a privately-owned specialist consulting firm that partners with governments to accelerate economic growth and institutional transformation. Originally established by the Government of Ireland in 1989 and inspired by Ireland’s own development journey, we work directly with ministries and implementation agencies to design and deliver high-impact strategies that drive investment, create jobs, and strengthen national competitiveness. Over the past 36 years, we’ve supported governments in more than 80 countries, activating development plans across FDI, economic zones, entrepreneurship, SME growth, export promotion, tourism, R&D and innovation. Our Leadership

Ronan Deignan

Director
Ronan Deignan is co-owner and Director at IDI and brings over 40 years’ experience advising governments, development institutions, and corporates on economic transformation and institutional reform. He has led more than 50 high-impact consultancy and project management engagements across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia, delivering results for clients including the World Bank, EU, EBRD, and national ministries. His expertise spans corporate strategy, economic zone development, industrial policy, and organizational transformation. Prior to co-founding IDI, Ronan served on the management committee of ICC Bank as Head of Strategy and Marketing. He holds degrees from Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.

Ted Bowe

Director
Ted Bowe is co-owner and Director at IDI and brings over 40yrs of experience as a certified management consultant and project manager. With a foundation in accounting, Ted has led client engagement, financial planning, technical scoping, and contract delivery across IDI’s core markets and service areas. Prior to joining IDI, Ted held executive and management roles at Allied Irish Bank (one of Ireland’s commercial banks) and ICC Bank (Ireland’s SME Bank), where he oversaw portfolios of unquoted equity investments and venture capital. His background includes corporate restructuring, fund management, and strategic financial operations, giving him deep insight into both institutional finance and SME development. Ted’s cross-sector expertise and operational leadership continue to shape IDI’s delivery of high-impact solutions across government, finance, and enterprise.
